Leading with Transparency

Transparency is the only way to get “close enough” with the people around you to grow as a person and as a leader.  You owe it to those you are leading around you to be transparent.  Many people tend to hold others at a distance or close their lives off from them.  If you “reign” over people and hold them at a distance – it’s true you probably won’t let anyone get close enough to hurt you – but you also won’t let anyone get close to help them.  Transparency says, “I’m not perfect, I make mistakes, I am very human; but come into my life anyway and let’s learn from one another, let’s teach each other to learn who we are and help each other become more of who we want to be.”  Transparency is a vital part of leadership, of building relationships that show you care, of mentoring and building the people around you.  Don’t be afraid to give more of yourself in order to grow those around you.  It may sometimes come with the cost of being hurt but the blessing of seeing others grow is well worth it!
